The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reported that Katelyn M. Martin, 18, died after being ejected from her 2007 Honda CRV at about 9:43 a.m. Friday.Martin was a senior at Riverdale High School. As a result of the accident, Friday’s football game with Van Buren and Senior Night activites have been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.A West Ohio Critical Incident Stress Management Team was at the school Friday to assist school counselors with serving students.The sheriff’s office reported Martin had been westbound on Ohio 293/County 330 when her car went off the north edge of the roadway. She appeared to over-correct her steering and lost control.The vehicle then went off the paved roadway again on the northside and struck a telephone junction box and an embankment, prior to rolling over several times. The vehicle came to rest upright in a soybean field.Martin was pronounced died at the scene.The sheriff’s investigation indicated that Martin was not wearing a seat belt and that speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash.Responding to the accident scene were Upper Sandusky EMS and Jaws, Life Flight, and Wharton-Richland Fire Department.
